Ishmael and My Ishmael inspire ballets

Jennifer Grahnquist, a 17-year-old ballet dancer and choreographer in the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre Pre-Professional Program, has created two short ballets, which you can now view on YouTube. Her first, "Vie," grew out of her reading of Ishmael. The most recent one, "Travail and Jeu" (Work and Play), is based on the "Tunes & Dancers" chapter of My Ishmael. This is not the final Ishmael-related ballet for Jennifer. She's already planning another based on "The Sea of Grass" section of The Story of B
