New school in Metro Detroit inspired by Daniel Quinn's ideas
Readers Dr. Howard Ditkoff and Daniel Jacobs, have designed a new educational opportunity for high schoolers. Daniel Quinn will serve on the advisory board for the school, which is named the Linx Institute. It offers students more personal input into their education, encouraging them to help design and implement their own curriculum from the ground up. The process emphasizes the interrelationships between various disciplines of knowledge. Furthermore, the community-based structure of the program balances independent and cooperative learning, while exposing students to "real world" educational opportunities from experts in the surrounding community. The program is inspired by ideas in My Ishmael and is currently seeking 10 to 18 students, aged 15-18, to begin in the fall in Metro Detroit. Ditkoff and Jacobs ask that you please help spread the word by letting people know about the program!
