  The Ishmael Community: Questions and Answers

The Question (ID Number 180)...

    What is the impact of non-food agriculture (i.e. corn for ethanol, marijuana, cotton, etc. on the growth of our species? I would think that this would be a step in the right direction in that it does not contribute to actually making new humans.

    ...and the response:

    Interesting idea. Increasing non-food agriculture wouldn't contribute to
    making new humans, but it WOULD attack biodiversity---in exactly the same way that increasing food agriculture does—by taking more and more resources away from nonhuman species.
