The Ishmael Community: Questions and Answers

The Question (ID Number 394)...

You don't make your beliefs clear in Ishmael. Do you believe in God or Gods or not?

    ...and the response:

Ishmael is not about what I personally believe but what can actually be observed "out there." There is no known way of examining the universe to determine the number of the gods, which is the issue. If the number is zero, then the atheists are "right." If the number is one, then the monotheists are "right." If the number is greater than one, then the polytheists are "right." I'm not interested in beliefs, I'm interested in knowledge, and the only thing I can say about the gods is that there is no way to discover their number. That knowledge is simply not obtainable.
