  The Ishmael Community: Questions and Answers

The Question (ID Number 167)...

    Can you point to examples in history where shifts in the dominant cultural paradigm have occurred? Seems to me that by studying those, we might get a clue on how to accelerate the current shift that we need to make.

    ...and the response:

    I feel that this approach to the question is an encouragement to quibbling—what is a cultural paradigm and when is it dominant? Christianity and the Industrial Revolution are two vision-driven movements that I keep coming back to in my writings and keep encouraging people to study as models (models not in the sense that they were admirable but rather in the sense that they were successful in their own terms). This will be examined in greater depth in my next book, MY ISHMAEL, to be released this fall.
