    I was VERY SURPRISED to see a link to AMAZON.F*!KI*G.COM on your web site. They are the least tribal business I can think of -- perhaps one of the most destructive ever to come along.

    ...and the response:

    I wonder if your beef isn't with online book-selling rather than with Amazon in particular. We make a point of encouraging people to patronize their local book-sellers as a first choice, but it would strike us as rather presumptuous to try to force the choice on them by omitting an option that many obviously prefer. The fact that Amazon is not a tribal business doesn't make it wicked. I have nowhere suggested that we should boycott nontribal businesses.
