These resources are suggested by readers. Ishmael Network members can add their suggested readings by logging into their record here... Please note that this list is neither compiled nor reviewed by Daniel Quinn. It should not be assumed, therefore, that he either endorses these books or agrees with the comments made about them. This statement holds true for the Ishmael Webmaster as well.... As of Monday, May 21, 2018 there are 9 books in the suggested reading list that start with J. Here is an easy to print list of everything...)

  • Jesus or Jehovah by Patricia Cabaniss has been suggested by Ishmael Network member Patricia Cabaniss...and Patricia has this to say about the book: "The Bible has been traditionally hard to read in that Jesus appears to have said and done two diferent things or said them about the same subject. Whereas in fact two entities or gods have been purposely woven into one in order to create confusion.Common sense is applied to the Ishmael theme story and it is the return to common sense which will take our world forward out of the mess that we have created. This book shows that when things do not make sense there is a reason. It is when we take the blinders off that we understand that if they do not make sense it will not work. So has religion never worked to help the world. It has created separation and that must end."
Check out and/or Order Jesus or Jehovah from Amazon.com! You can also order from a local bookstore by using BookSense.

  • Jesus the Son of Man by Kahlil Gibran has been suggested by Ishmael Network member Thomas Wood...and Thomas has this to say about the book: "I myself have never fallen into the all relenting free faith of religion and so have in growing up harbored a resentment for the people, and their notions, who did. This book presents a empathetic and unassuming look on a subject who has been misquoted more than anyone I can think of."
Check out and/or Order Jesus the Son of Man from Amazon.com! You can also order from a local bookstore by using BookSense.

  • Jitterbug Perfume by Tom Robbins has been suggested by Ishmael Network member Adam LaMontagne...and Adam has this to say about the book: "Eye-opening, heart wrenching love story of the ages. A must read for those who appreciate good literature and a refreshing view of the world."
Check out and/or Order Jitterbug Perfume from Amazon.com! You can also order from a local bookstore by using BookSense.

  • Jonathan Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach has been suggested by Ishmael Network member Laurie Sutton...and Laurie has this to say about the book: ""This book is a classic, and shows how we can soar higher and open our minds in ways we never thought of before. Like "The Story of B," it makes us think about life in ways we never dreamed of. It shows us that our potential, and the directions we may travel, are limited only by our narrow focus. This is a book about dreaming big."
Check out and/or Order Jonathan Livingston Seagull from Amazon.com! You can also order from a local bookstore by using BookSense.

  • Jonathon Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach has been suggested by Ishmael Network member Michael Negrete...and Michael has this to say about the book: "This book taught me that being different is what makes us special"
Check out and/or Order Jonathon Livingston Seagull from Amazon.com! You can also order from a local bookstore by using BookSense.

  • Journey to Ixtlan by Carlos Castaneda has been suggested by Ishmael Network member Deke Beakley...and Deke has this to say about the book: "Among Carlos Castaneda's body of work, Journey to Ixtlan is the best digest of the complete lessons of Juan Matus, the author's teacher, a yaqui indian warrior and shaman in the 1960's. Don Juan talks about the origions, purposes, limitations, properties, and alternatives of consciousness in man, and also much on the subject of ancient knowledges and how exactly the encroachment of industrial society was at that time destroying this knowledge forever (this process is nearly complete in the present day, of course.) The main lesson? You'll have to read it, but it is essentially, "what is Don Genaro's journey to Ixtlan?," and what does it mean that it is neither finished nor ever will be?"
Check out and/or Order Journey to Ixtlan from Amazon.com! You can also order from a local bookstore by using BookSense.

  • Journey to Ixtlan by Carlos Casteneda has been suggested by Ishmael Network member Ron Bracale...and Ron has this to say about the book: "Instruction from a Native American Shaman, a member of a true remaining leaver culture, providing a very good example of a Leaver view of what it means to be Human to the fullest."
Check out and/or Order Journey to Ixtlan from Amazon.com! You can also order from a local bookstore by using BookSense.

  • Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton has been suggested by Ishmael Network member Michael Chobot...and Michael has this to say about the book: "This book, along with the Lost World, is a must read for everyone who wants to improve their mosaic of vision. This book gave me new ideas to be able to better teach those who I think need to hear all the ideas on this website(which is everyone i meet). If you want to teach this vision, you should read Jurassic Park. (and the Lost World)"
Check out and/or Order Jurassic Park from Amazon.com! You can also order from a local bookstore by using BookSense.

  • Just a Couple of Days by Tony Vigorito has been suggested by Ishmael Network member Sonya Jayna...and Sonya has this to say about the book: "Just a Couple of Days presents a wonderful vision for the future of humanity. It's so difficult to describe it, since it is a future beyond the limitations of language. I call it a merry-hearted apocalypse, but only so long as it's understood that the word apocalypse derives from the Greek verb, apokalyptein, which means to uncover or to unveil. It's about the unveiling of all illusion."
Check out and/or Order Just a Couple of Days from Amazon.com! You can also order from a local bookstore by using BookSense.
