New Webmaster for Ishmael and NTV Sites

Ever since its inception in 1995, the Ishmael website has been watched over and managed by it's original developer, Alan Thornhill. Though he has continued serving as webmaster for the past few years since his appointment as Executive Director of The Society for Conservation Biology, it has become increasingly difficult for him to keep up with website duties amid all the travel and other requirements of directing a major nonprofit organization. Consequently, he's decided it's time for him to retire as webmaster and turn that job over to someone else.

We're sorry to see Alan go, and, as he said, giving up the website "is like sending your child out in a car with his first driver's license. You hate to do it, but you know you must." For us it's the end of an era that began when an email arrived saying, "Would you like me to set up a website for you?" (You can read about the origins and history of the Ishmael website at Annals of Ishmael.)

But even though we're losing Alan as webmaster, we're welcoming our new webmasters, Robert Kurfehs and Brandon Fitzpatrick. You can find out more about them at New Economy Design. They've been working with Alan to get familiar with the websites and what's needed to manage them, and we trust that those of you who have been volunteering your time and experience to take care of various aspects of the Ishmael site will continue with the great and necessary assistance you provide.

So– Alan, thanks for all you've put into the Ishmael Community as it has developed from a tiny website into an almost overwhelming one over the past ten years. And Robert and Brandon, we look forward to working with you and to seeing what will develop next.
