Do What You Can Where You Are
We recently heard from our friend Victor Palenque. He writes: "I got a new blog site for you to check out--ishmaelart. I'm going on my 11th year of making Ishmael inspired art. 2010 was a great year. I concentrated on printing Ishmael stickers at my house and sending them out in the mail. I got a lot of requests thanks to you guys putting a link on your news and info page. It's been a lot of fun sending them out all over the world. I have a world map that I place a pin in the location of request. The photos I receive keeps my blog interesting. I knew that this experiment would take time. My stickers merely say 'Ishmael.' which leaves plenty of room for interpretation, which in return causes interest out of curiosity. We are learning that our new art movement of street art has a lot of reach. The invention of the Internet and digital picture sharing has fueled our movement exponentially . Critics are saying that the street art movement is proving that small things can go along way. So after years of putting up these stickers that say Ishmael, the connection is being made through blogs, art shows , picture sharing sites, train graffiti, and murals that Ishmael is a book. In November we were invited to paint in Miami for Art Basel. This week long event displays the worlds best contemporary mural artists as well as gallery artists. We had a blast!" See his new blog for examples of his art.
