    I've always thought that ALL agriculture is basically harmful, so your distinction between Totalitarian Agriculture and other kinds is meaningless to me.

    ...and the response:

    What you must understand that humans have been encouraging the growth of the foods they favor from the beginning­­­as, in a very real sense, all species do. For example, birds carry (in their guts) seeds of the fruit trees they patronize, and they spread these seeds across the land in their feces. If you look at the way the community actually works, you'll see that this is not at all an isolated example. The key difference between Totalitarian Agriculture and other forms is the fact that it is unsustainable.
