    Why are you here?

I wish to communicate with other people who have been touched by Ishmael. I feel I have changed fundamentally in the way I look at the world. I also have a new-found hope for the future. Ishmael has validated ideas I have had in my head since early childhood. It was very encouraging to know I wasn't the only one who felt this way.

Any other personal information/resources/advice/ideas to share?

A fundamental dissonance in my psyche has been that the religion I was being taught (Methodist than Presbyterian) was the only true religion. I just couldn't buy the fact that all these wierd and wonderful religions across the globe were wrong and we were right. I never could understand sending missionaries to various places to teach them ways of living that had absolutely nothing to do with their situation and traditions. So it was very gratifying to find someone who could back up my feelings with some hard evidence.

I would also like to say that I believe I have personally "walked away" in that I have started my own business as of March of 1997. I have never enjoyed my various employs (warehouse work, retail, public relations, ad writing), so after a leave of absence playing band shows for military bases around Europe, I decided to try something different. I have always enjoyed nothing better than performing music for people. It's my calling, it comes to me easily and naturally. I began to think of ways I could perform during the day and make money. I couldn't stand the club band life, performing mindless, industrialized commercial music in vapid lounges for disaffected people (really the only lucrative situation for the vast majority of musicians today). So I began calling children's daycares to see if I could come and perform for a meager sum. They loved the idea, I've been doing it ever since. Not getting rich, of course, not monetarily anyway. But my life is rich, I make my own hours, no one is breathing down my neck, no deadlines, low pressure, take off when I want to, you get the picture. So, I just want to encourage anyone who is taking the plunge, do it! I feel like I actually experience time passing at a normal rate, much more slowly. The months and years are not racing like they used to. Anyway I wanna thank the supporters and webmaster for my time to spew.
