Significance to whom? I know of no one to whom human extinction is significant except us. It has the same significance to us collectively as death has for you individually–except that your death is inevitable within this century, whereas human extinction is not; we need not become extinct for thousands of years, perhaps even millions of years–but we will if we continue to live this way. You have no choice in the matter of your own personal extinction. We have a choice when it comes to our collective extinction.
