It seems to me that blaming our social problems on money is like blaming our drug problems on drug pushers. Pushers and money both do bad things in their own right, but they only exist because they service needs. They didn’t create those needs, and the needs won’t disappear if they go away. In other words, pushers and money aren’t the root of the problem, they’re the fruit of the problem. If you kill the fruit, the root remains, but if you kill the root, the fruit withers on its own. That’s why I leave the fruit alone and keep digging down to expose and hack away at the root.
