The publicly avowed purpose for the genetic modification of foods is that it represents a new “win” in the food race on the side of food production. Since every win on the side of food production is answered by a win on the side of population growth, the genetic modification of foods will serve to hasten the catastrophic human overpopulation of our planet.
Though this is obviously not publicly avowed, the genetic modification of foods will also encourage domination of world food production by a few companies and increase dependence on industrialized nations by developing countries. For these reasons, the genetic modification of foods must be seen as intensifying the threat to the already-threatened future of our species.
